Greater independence and depth - Years 9/10 Extensive experience and research tells us that during the important middle years of college, students in Years 9 and 10 require more time learning about topics in depth. They also require more opportunity to have some control over what they study. So, for Years 9 and 10, we have designed an enabling curriculum matrix that fosters more in-depth exploration, responsibility and a positive sense of self. Students in Year 9 study a reduced number of ‘core’ subjects, but choose from a number of semester length electives. Year 9 Core subjects include Communication, Maths, Me and My World, and Science. For both years 9 and 10, an elective subject called the ‘Advance Program’, which is run in conjunction with the Red Cross, is offered for those students who have leadership potential and wish to participate in community activities Year 9 elective subjects include: Health and Physical Education: - Team Sports

In Year 10 students have even more opportunities to select subjects of interest and relevance to their career paths and to study those subjects in greater depth. Year 10 Core subjects include English, Mathematics and Work Education (Semester one).
